Republic of Serbia does not possess precise data on number and value of its real estate, due to failure to act by competent authorities and beneficiaries, and due to regulatory deficiencies, Mr. Radoslav Sretenovic, Auditor-Gneneral of the State Audit Institution, said. During the presentation of the Performance Audit Report titled "Utilization of Real Estate Owned by the Republic of Serbia", Mr. Sretenovic emphasized that the Government has no control over utilization of real estate due to lack of centralized system, as well as due to irresponsible behavior of beneficiaries and competent authorities.

The State Audit Institution marked today the completion of the Twinning Project "Strengthening Capacities of the State Audit Institution of the Republic of Serbia", funded by the European Union with 1.4 million Euros. During the event, it was stated that taxpayers in all EU member states and candidate countries have the right to be informed on how their money is spent.
